This is one of my favorite lessons and it came naturally to me. As a blind chef, my mother keeps her equipment well-organized and placed in a reliable manner that makes the whole cooking process much more time and energy-efficient. This design aka strategy allows her to cook everything from A to Z with no help at all.
The organization in your kitchen and consistency in keeping ingredients in the same place, or at least in a convenient place for you, can be a life savior for any chef, not only someone who's blind. Moreover, my mother's kitchen is not blind-friendly, yet the uniformity in her organization has been her major support system and she has rarely made a mess or required assistance, no matter how complicated the dishes were.
Remember, you don't need a super fancy kitchen or cooking ware to prepare hearty food. In the next article, the Blind Chef will let you on her secret ingredient to any recipe.
