National Freedom Day

In 1865, Abraham Lincoln signed the amendment outlawing slavery.

And It wasn't till June 30, 1948 that President Truman proclaimed that February 1 would be the official National Freedom Day in the USA.

On this day, many towns and cities celebrate and hold ceremonies to commemorate this date.
