2020 has taken a toll on most of us and many people have been struggling with mental fog, memory loss, and lack of focus. Thus, I decided to write this article to recommend some foods that could help you improve your brain activity. This one is dedicated to my Lebanese fellows, especially the 4th of August champions who’ve been experiencing some correlated problems due to the trauma.

Red Wine lovers will be happy to know that this article has some good news: drinking a glass of red wine a day is key for mental health. So, gear up your stock for this winter, and let’s have a glass of my favorite alcohol!

Let’s move to food.

First of all, protein, my favorite macronutrient is key and it can work wonders for you. Loading up on high Omega-3 fatty acids proteins such as Salmon and fatty fish is a winner. Eggs are equally a good option.

Second, when it comes to carbs, there is nothing that can beat the leafy greens such as broccoli, kale & co. The amount of fiber in these foods is essential to brain health. In addition, all types of berries are more than welcome and a pinch of whole-grain healthy carbs, such as brown rice, or oats, is always a great idea!

Third. The Fats. I beg you to keep in mind that healthy fats are key components of mental health. So don't be afraid to eat walnuts, flax seeds, and avocados, which happen to be amazing brain foods.

Lastly, treat yourself with a small piece of dark chocolate and make sure it's low on sugar (anything above 75% dark is welcome). Also, note that drinking your favorite caffeinated beverage is always a winner.

My final tips to you:

  • Eat more veggies
  • Minimum 80% of your calories should be whole foods
  • Cut off sugar and its substitutes
  • Load up on water

And most importantly, add a pinch of Daily Gratitude, Love, and Positivity. Life is definitely worth it!
