I never was a fan of reading in Arabic. My friend shared passages from the book that intrigued me. That's how I finally bridged my apprehension and set out to read a philosophical book in Arabic. And I was thrilled!

Mikhail Naimy is a Lebanese poet, philosopher, and writer. He contributed greatly to the reform of the Pen League in New York with his fellow Lebanese philosopher and artist Gibran Khalil Gibran and a group of other writers from the Mahjar movement. Naimy is widely acclaimed for his spiritual work "The Book of Mirdad". In this shorter booklet, published within 9 volumes of the works of Naimy in 1974, the author explores and asks pertinent questions about the life of Jesus and his teachings, through thought-provoking queries without being blasphemous or disrespectful. The Arabic language used is simple, which made it easy for me to read within little time and understand what was penned in the different chapters. While I do not always agree with the adopted analytical process, the line of thought is clear and resorts to attempting to present complex ideas plainly. This is a highly recommended read and many intricate notions such as religious/Christian consciousness, forgiveness, remorse, humans in their relationship with God their Creator, and many others are laid out for us to take pleasure in following a line of thought that will definitely make you perceive matters from a different angle and open up to a wider and broader comprehension of the foundations of Christianity.

Happy reading 📚
