Did you ever wake up with the feeling that some action had been taking place and you were late to catch up? Yeah, well that's exactly how it felt this morning as I scrolled up and down my nightly notifications. My mind first didn't register that the US had killed Qasem Soleimani by targeting his convoy with missiles near Baghdad International Airport. The Major General of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (Iran) and Commander of the Quds Force, a division that handles extraterritorial military operations, was known not only in Iraq but also in Syria and Lebanon. The US attacks came as a retaliation for the American Embassy in Baghdad. As I was hurrying to get to work, my senses were alert to pick up on any political reaction from the Lebanese Shi'ite community. I was concerned about what the American operation would have an impact on Lebanon. Since late-night, rebels had been gathering to mess with the locks of the offices of public institutions, and creating road blockades made of rocks, once more. While I am not sure how these activities are helping the Lebanese "Intifada" make any progress, any display of annoyance towards the governing people is good in my eyes. At least for now. And this thought by itself gave me enough motivation to kickstart my day :)
