Dave Trott is a creative director, copyrighter, and author. His third book, "One plus One equals Three: A Masterclass in Creative Thinking", is a very easy and interesting read. It took me barely 2-3 hours to enjoy myself through it. And some parts I did re-read. The book is divided into 9 chapters, and each contains several short "stories" of a couple of pages. You do not need to read them in sequence as they seem like they are stemming from a blog. Some of these stories are well known, or at least I had read about them previously, and some are less popular. My favorite ones were: in chapter one, "Not-so-smart bomb"; in chapter two, "Choice of architecture" and "Reading sets you free", you can guess why for the latter lol; in chapter three, "Thinking is painful", I cannot tell you how much I can relate to this feature; in chapter five, "A brand to bank on", which I knew of but with fewer details, and in chapter six, "A formula to avoid thinking", which is what I sense our worlds strangely abide by more and more. Dave Trott recounts the various stories with humor, and I do appreciate English anecdotes. He indirectly engages one's creative thinking and you might get your A-Ha moment a while after finishing your reading. Some tales will truly inspire you and some most probably less because you know, "Creativity can be messy", just as the title of chapter nine shows. Recommended!
