Broccoli is what we call a good carb. It contains a lot of fiber, which helps to digest, prevents constipation and maintains low blood sugar levels. Additionally, broccoli, which is an antioxidant, is rich in vitamin C and minerals like calcium. It has potassium and even some protein.
The main health benefits of broccoli are:
- it is good for the heart
- it contains cancer protective compounds
- it may help in case you suffer from osteoarthritis.
Beware of consuming broccoli in the following cases:
- if you suffer from irritable bowl syndrome (IBS), as it may give you gas
- if you have kidney problems
- if you take blood thinners.
