My favorite quote about traveling is from St. Augustine: "the world is a book. And those who don't travel read only one page". You can imagine that a saying combining 2 of my fundamental needs, books and travels, expresses the longing of my spirit. Because you see, to me, traveling is to live. Exploring different countries and cultures is a joy so deep that transforms my desire for adventure into reality. Even if I am a Capricorn, with my feet on the ground, well most of the time, I am also a dreamer, and I might have been a wanderer or maybe a Viking in another life 🤷🏻‍♀️ I crave going on trips as much as I hunger for good food. And for about 15 years, I was traveling for work, for fun, and to meet with family every couple of weeks. And on many of those journeys, something happened. It could have been something amusing, like when I was in the lounge waiting for my connecting flight in Doha and was so engrossed in my book that I did hear my name being called to board because I was the last passenger who hadn't but somehow didn't move and almost missed my flight, or rather frustrating when I left to Paris on a Saturday morning where I spent the day with a friend before riding a night bus to Bavaria to be met with another friend, spend the day gathering my stuff and packing them to fly back to Beirut very late that same night and end up being stuck at the Munich airport for 2 nights. The recount of the latter saga can be read here. I am sure every traveler has tales to tell because a lot of interesting stories can be found between the pages of a passport.

Some quotes about traveling and wanderlust:

Travel brings power and love back into your life - Rumi

To travel is to take a journey into yourself - Danny Kaye

Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow - Anita Desai

It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end - Ernest Hemingway

Wandering re-establishes the original harmony which once existed between man and the universe - Anatole France

Traveling. It leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller - Ibn Battuta

Live with no excuses. Travel with no regrets - Oscar Wilde

Although I love trees and I am attached to my roots, I am not a plant and my feet yearn for expeditions, preferably unplanned or to a very strict minimum. I consider traveling one of the rare things you buy that makes you richer. It is my way of grasping life with both hands, and feet obviously, and it makes me happy and balanced. As I am writing this post, I am already working out the details of my next voyage. Guess where to?
