Link to the plate of lentils pic here

As a child, I used to hate mjaddra, the Lebanese lentils meal with onions and rice. As I grew up into the person I am today, my taste buds started shifting towards healthier food. And one big shift was in the way I approached this specific food.

What I learned was that I loved boiled lentils and cooked onions. But honestly, the rice didn’t make any sense to me. So in step one, I removed the rice and cooked the lentils along with the onions.

But I did not stop there, you know, I’m Mr. Fusion and Mr. Macros. So what I did instead was go for a fusion of chopped tomatoes and labneh (strained yogurt) and added this as a dressing to the whole mjaddra equation. This was mjaddra innovated to me. And since then, I have had this lunch every single Friday. it has become a tradition to me. And yes I will leave you with the macros and details below:

Now that you are probably off to make some mjaddra, enjoy your concoctions!
