This is a family film that has aged well. Released in 2006, back when real-life concerns were not about the gender of children, it depicts the story of Ron Clark, played poignantly by Matthew Perry, an idealistic teacher who wants to give more than all to his students. His ambition drives him to New York where he thinks he could help more. And how right he was! His sixth-graders are rowdy, unruly, impolite, you name it. Their teachers don't stay long enough and keep quitting on them. Will he be able to tame their rebellious behavior and attitude? I watched this movie on one of my sleepless nights. Happy to enjoy a story about making a difference, respect, and self-worth, and to read a little more about the true Ron Clark. This is a narrative that is predictable and remains an excellent topic of discussion with children, family, or friends about hard work and going for what one believes in. An entertaining flick that might compel you to read "The Essential 55" which was published in 2004 and might come in handy in educating children.
