A few weeks ago, I discovered this older sitcom while browsing Netflix for something light to relax after a long day. And I watched half of the first season in a go and laughed my heart out. I used to love this series and looked forward to new episodes airing on cable. They are short: each around 20 minutes or so. My favorite character was and remains, of course, Sheldon Cooper! The weird OCD physicist shares his apartment with Leonard Hofstadter, also an expert in physics, and they both work at Caltech. They have 2 close friends, aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz, and astrophysicist Rajesh Koothrappali. These nerdy and socially awkward friends will have their lives turned upside down when they welcome Penny, an aspiring actress who works as a waitress at the Cheese Cake Factory, into the apartment across the hall. They all struggle in their personal relationships, and at work. Starting season 3, the supporting characters of Bernadette Rostenkowski, a microbiologist, and Amy Farah Fowler, a neuroscientist, who is as eccentric as Sheldon and simply a female version of him, are adjoined to the troupe. What will happen next? Who will date who? Will the friends end up becoming couples?

The show is funny, even if some episodes are less humorous. The scientific info is quite accurate. However, you don't need to be a geek to enjoy the narrative and giggle. After a few episodes, you will get used to the quirkiness of Sheldon, and the peculiarity of each one of the cast. Each has a special personality and the simplest social situation can turn out to be hilarious or ridiculous. A highly entertaining spectacle that can be watched and rewatched!
