I always wondered how come music notes are always written in black. Some are white but that's beyond my thought. To me, music, another language of the inner, elevated soul, is colorful. Just like the picture. It reflects moods, thoughts, and feelings and speaks to anyone, beyond race, beliefs, or geography. The same tune affects humans, animals, and even plants. Any living creature seems to sense music. How grand is that? As I remember the concert of the previous night, I can't but think of how I felt listening to the "Danse Diabolique" by Hellmesberger. As I check the set table and make sure that foods and drinks are ready, I grin. One of my friends who is coming over for drinks is a musicologist who teaches the piano. I have already asked for his assistance to acquire a baby grand piano.. and I have found it, with his help :) I am drawn out of my musical reverie by the doorbell ring. My guests have arrived... and with a surprise! They have brought a delicious cake with them to celebrate, a week early, my upcoming birthday! Their gesture is really sweet and unexpected. It simply makes my night. Over food and later drinks, we debate not only mundane topics, such as politics and the economy of Lebanon but also .. you guessed right: music. My friend, who is visiting for the first time, approves of where I will be placing the piano and we all agree on me hosting musical evenings. Cheers to that!
