By the end of summer, when taking a stroll in the countryside, you are bound to see wild berries. While several are edible, there are many poisonous berries that look very yummy. So, unless you are sure about the type you have encountered, do not eat any!

The most common comestible ones are blueberries, brambles, elderberries, hawthorn, raspberries, rosehips, rowan, damson, and blackthorn. They are usually low in fat and sugar and packed with vitamins and minerals.

You can also grow these berries as a natural fence to your garden. It is low-maintenance, embellishes your landscape, and provides a harvest with which you could make a healthy crumble, a smoothie, or a compote!
