December 13: today's stone is a polished Sodalite. Often mistaken for Lapis Lazuli, it is however easy to tell them apart. Sodalite contains calcite inclusions and appears to be more vitreous than Lapis Lazuli. The latter usually has an intense blue hue and golden pyrite flecks. Sodalite, an inexpensive mineral, usually serves as a "fake" Lapis Lazuli. Sodalite will scratch and leave a white streak, whereas Lapis Lazuli will leave a blue one ✨
Sodalite is considered a powerful tool to express yourself truthfully and remain authentic to who you really are. It enhances intuition and helps raise awareness by balancing emotions and favoring clear communication. The vibrations of this stone are said to unlock mental blockages, alleviate panic attacks, and support calmness in stressful situations. A stone of wisdom, clarity of thought, and creativity, Sodalite symbolizes efficiency, logic, rationality, honesty, and introspection. It is often dubbed the Poet's Stone for its ability to devise profound thoughts ⚡️
Healers believe that the Sodalite energies can cleanse your aura, remove bad feelings in the heart, and purify the organs, hence boosting the immune system. The Ancient Greek people thought that wearing that crystal stimulated peace and harmony and pushed for compassion toward the self and others. Sodalite is associated with both the Third Eye and the Throat chakras. Some shamans claim it can enhance psychic abilities. And that it might help reduce fever, lower blood pressure, and defeat throat inflammation ⚡️
As for astrology, Sodalite is connected to the Sagittarius ♐️ and balances its intrepid and impetuous behavior. I'm not a Sagittarius, but I am off to relax my mind with my Sodalite ✨
See you tomorrow for a new stone/crystal!
