Unlike many, I have not really decided on becoming a vegetarian. It almost happened by chance and since it made me feel good in my body and my mind, I kept the lifestyle for more than 3 years now. By the end of January 2020, I was fasting. I wanted a detox after the holidays and somehow skipped eating hams and bacon, which I loved, but are quite fatty. Then it was lent and for me normal to adopt a vegetarian diet for 50 days. After that, it somehow went on as the "need" for meat or poultry didn't manifest itself. A few months later, a friend recommended watching some documentaries and I was by then convinced I had made the right change about what I ingested: I felt lighter, sharper, and overall better. It wasn't always easy around my parents, especially dad, who, still to date, suggests I eat some meat at family reunions. But with one or two exceptions I made to try eating meats again since my shift, I am confident that I am ingesting enough protein and nutrients. Yes, my blood tests show I have no deficiencies. However, I rely on how I feel and what my body signals to me. I would like to reiterate that I am not vegan and I do not endorse the vegan agenda. This means that I still consume dairy products, such as eggs, milk, and cheese. I do not impose my beliefs on others, and I still serve non-vegetarian dishes when I invite meat-eaters to my home. My lifestyle is about how I live my life. And my conscious choices are mine to make. Not to be shoved in anyone's face. I can tell you that it was quite easy for me. With a few rare cravings, I can assure you that if you wanted to give the vegetarian regimen a try, you can. And if I can assist in any way, reach out to me. I would be glad to help.
